Equilibrium and Continuity

The Aquamarine as a Link Between Sky and Sea

Inspiration
The morphology of this ring is inspired by the waves of the Mediterranean Sea on a tranquil afternoon at Aigües Blanques Beach in Ibiza. Unlike many of the island's other coves, Aigües Blanques stands out for its wild and untouched character. Its crystal-clear turquoise waters and golden sands create an unparalleled natural beauty.

I spend part of the year in Ibiza, a place that fuels much of my inspiration, and one of my secret retreats is Aigües Blanques Beach. In this setting, the waves gently form and approach the shore, breaking softly to create white foam. This repetitive, hypnotic, and harmonious process serves as the metaphor for this unique design.

Concept

The ring captures the serenity and movement of these waves through a balanced and controlled design, reflecting the essence of the sea in its infinite calm. Every element has been thoughtfully designed to represent this natural phenomenon:

The Central Oval (Aquamarine)

The oval-shaped aquamarine at the center symbolizes the vastness of the Mediterranean in its most tranquil state—horizontal and serene. Its crystal-blue tone mirrors the water as it reflects sunlight in this idyllic Ibizan beach.

Pear-Shaped Aquamarines (Sides)

The side stones, shaped like teardrops, represent the waves as they timidly form and advance toward the shore. These gems reflect the movement of the water subtly but with purpose, evoking a sense of continuity.

Diamonds (Wave Foam)

The diamonds set along the sides and top of the ring symbolize the white foam that appears as the waves break gently on the sand. This detail adds a luminous sparkle, reminiscent of the Mediterranean's radiance at sunset.

Yellow Gold (The Sand)

The structure of the ring, crafted in yellow gold, represents the warm sand of Aigües Blanques, where the waves conclude their journey. This material connects the design with the natural elements of earth and sun, complementing the calm water with warmth.

Design and Structure

The design of the ring reflects the continuous movement of the waves in a harmonious, symmetrical, and controlled manner:

  • Fluid Morphology: The smooth lines of the setting and the arrangement of the gemstones emulate the repetitive flow of waves reaching the shore.
  • Symmetry: The design achieves balance between the central element (the oval aquamarine) and the side stones (pear-shaped aquamarines and diamonds), evoking serenity and order reminiscent of the sea’s rhythm.
  • Infinite Movement: The ring’s structure creates a sense of perpetual motion, symbolizing the eternal dance of the waves with the shore.

A Sensory Experience

This ring is more than a piece of jewelry; it is an experience that transports its wearer to the serenity and beauty of the Mediterranean. Every detail tells a story: the calm waters, the timid waves, the radiant foam, and the warm sand. It is a piece that combines nature, emotion, and art in perfect harmony.

"Equilibrium and Continuity" serves as a tangible reminder that even the smallest and most subtle movements can hold infinite beauty and impact.
